Samuel
is the great hope from the new flamenco singers. A young and new gypsy value
from Los Agujetas family who evokes with his black raw voice the racial style of Tio Juan Talega,
conjuring the essence from the songs of
Chocolate, Terremoto and Antonio Mairena.
His
love for flamenco comes from his very early age when he started to sing the songs his father used to
sing but
It was thanks to his cousin
Manuel Flores "Macarron" when he gradually began to take conscience of the singer within.
"I sing since I have use of reason and my goal is to
reach the status that allows me to live this way. I always try to keep my feet on the ground but I
am still a child, my family is very important and I try to be surrounded by great professionals and great people like Paco Cepero my artistic
godfather who always gives me the best
advice".
Samuel
Serrano invokes with his sound the tragedy of the songs of Jerez, he has the
voice of a classic singer. The most repeated phrase among flamenco people who have ever
listened to him say that he sounds "like an old singer". This
is because Samuel has a hurtful and gypsy voice that
make you shake when singing by seguiriyas and soleares, fandango and bulerías.
When
singing seguiriya it is sublime and when
he feels more comfortable, the good
execution must be added on faster styles
like bulerías as a surprising factor
precisely because his heartbreaking voice, does not usually get along
with this style.
Specialized
flamencologists have recognized the talent of Samuel whose performance at Baluarte de la Candelaria in Cadiz within
Flamenco Thursdays accompanied by guitarrist
Niño de Pura established his
maturity like Flamenco singer.
